ALBUM DESCRIPTION
Straight up, voice and guitar, performing original songs that celebrate themes of love and loss and home and travel and such, among humans, in a poetic spirit and turn of phrase, where words evoke and morph.
WE CROSS THE RIVER, a new song issuing from some real life lessons of late. I WRITE, like the man said — writers write, painters paint, dancers dance — just do it. BACK IN TOWN reflects the feel I got from the alleys, trees, rusting bicycles –driftwood of the old town of my freewheelin’ days. Standing at the easel, light coming in through the northern window, a birthday gift, HE PAINTS HER PORTRAIT. I’ve got way too many books, but hope to keep on reading THE BOOK OF LIFE. HAPPY SAD is the latest composition for this recording — I’m guessing we all pull back the curtain now and again. The idea for AMONG HUMANS came from a book on whales and how they live — I wade out into their world sometimes. JIMMY GREENE was my true and honest friend – man, we had some good laughs! SEE THE BIRDS just lead me along to where she wanted to go, the kind of song I am thankful for. STAY AWAKE, MUSE was written on a cloud filled northern moonlit night. START AGAIN, from many years ago and still comes back into my life, and now it’s part of yours! We are the dreaming animal and we find that sometimes this could happen ONLY IN DREAMS.
“There’s a bittersweet quality to his songs that reflects the bitter-sweetness of life itself, the timeless, human intermingling of joy and sadness, tears and laughter”. Alden Nowlan, Atlantic Insight
